Message from Nickie Aiken
MP for the Cities of London and Westminster
The countdown to the King’s Speech has begun and I am ramping up my efforts to ensure that we finally have the long promised Leasehold Reform Bill included.
Your views are so important in shaping my contributions to any upcoming changes to leasehold reform. So if you are a leaseholder or a landlord with views on leasehold reform, I would encourage you to respond to my leasehold survey so I can take your views straight to Government.
Milton House is now connected to Fibre Broadband after Openreach installed the network of cables up until the entrance of each apartment door late June (there should be a small hatch where your service provider will connect into your apartment). You can confirm on Openreach's fibre checker, input your postcode, choose your address from the drop-down.
Openreach doesn’t provide phone, broadband or TV services directly to anyone so to get these services you’ll need to contact a service provider (Sky, Virgin, BT etc.).
The City of London Corporation is working on designs to transform the streets on the 1970’s St Paul's gyratory. The project area stretches from the Museum of London roundabout to St Paul's underground station and is characterised by wide, vehicle-dominated highways, including King Edward Street, St Martin's Le Grand and Newgate Street. The intention is to make these streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists and create a greener, more pleasant environment. Click here for more details. The Court of Common Council approved Option 1/1A, The design layout for this option can be found here.

HSBC has exchanged to let its new London headquarters, relocating from the more than 1 million square foot it has occupied in Canary Wharf for more than two decades, to 556,000 square feet at the former British Telecom head office near St Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London.
The relocation is expected to take place in 2027, when the bank's lease on the 45-floor tower at 8 Canada Square expires.
Responding to changes in hybrid working, and the lease expiry, HSBC announced in September of last year that it planned to undertake a review of the best future location in London for its global headquarters, including the option of staying in the current building. HSBC said its ambition is to have an "even more flexible and dynamic head office that meets the needs of colleagues and clients".
London Wall site is now closed to visitors.
Museum of London begins countdown to West Smithfield relocation.
Museum of London’s main site at London Wall has closed as a visitor attraction in December 2022 in preparation for its relocation to West Smithfield. The Museum of London in West Smithfield will host a festival curated by Londoners in 2025 ahead of opening under a new name: The London Museum. The opening of the new museum will see the historic General Market at West Smithfield brought back to life for all Londoners to enjoy within Culture Mile, the City’s cultural district.
